Life is Worth Exploring
Guests come on the Alpha course for many different reasons; some want to investigate whether God exists and some have questions they’d like to discuss. Many guests have never been to church and others may have attended church but feel they have never had a personal understanding of the Christian faith.
What is Alpha?
Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in an informal, fun and friendly environment.
The Alpha course consists of a series of talks, looking at topics including ‘Who is Jesus?’ and ‘Why and how do I pray?’. Each week has a standard format. We meet for supper, and each talk is followed by discussion in small groups. Towards the end of the course there is also an option of attending an Alpha weekend away.
We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome, wherever you’re starting from.
St John’s holds an Alpha Course twice a year. The course runs every Tuesday for eleven weeks. Each evening begins at around 7pm, and is usually finished by 9.30pm.
You don’t have to sign up for the whole course straight away – you are very welcome to come along for the first night to see what you think.
If you are interested in attending please email the Alpha Team
