We arrange occasional events and meetings which offer help, encouragement and friendship to women in the midst of busy lives:
Events for 2017
These are arranged two to three times a year and are held in the Main Worship Area, starting at 8.45am until 11.00am (arrival from 8.15am). The breakfasts provide an opportunity for women of all ages within St John’s to meet with others, share a delicious breakfast followed by a time of worship, teaching or testimony.
Breakfasts are scheduled for;
- Saturday 4th March with speaker Jane Holloway (from the World Prayer Centre)
- Saturday 18th November with Kate Patterson (Author of ‘The Promise of Blessing’ and speaker based in West London).
A Women’s Quiet Morning is planned for Saturday 24th June. The leader is to be confirmed.
A pizza and film/games night is being planned for early in the spring.

We have a variety of midweek groups and activities and occasional events specifically tailored for the needs of women…
Digging Deeper is a daytime Bible Study group (without crèche facilities) for women, meeting fortnightly on Monday afternoons at church.
Members of the group commit to preparing for each session using study books. Leadership of the studies is shared round the group. New members are always welcome!

International Women’s Groups
There are groups specifically for International Women:
- CAMEO (Come And Meet Each Other); and
- ‘Afternoon at Jill’s’.

Midway is a group of older women who meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month during term time from 2:00-3:30 p.m. We meet for Bible study, Fellowship and a cup of tea.
We choose a topic for the term and invite a different speaker for each meeting. You are very welcome to join us in Room 2. Collect the current programme from the Welcome table.

Talk Together Groups
There are six Talk Together groups which meet weekly in the mornings during term time and a fairly new group which meets Friday evenings, alternate weeks. Groups attract women of all ages so being a huge source of blessing for women from all stages / experiences of life. Three of the daytime groups offer crèche facilities enabling women with young families to have fellowship – crèche availability continues to be an important aspect.
Talk Together groups provide an oasis in the week offering friendship and encouragement, time to encounter God through worship, Bible study and prayer as well as opportunity for socialising and fun.

Bible Meditation Groups
The aim of the groups is to know Jesus better and to be enabled to share his love.
Meetings are weekly on Thursday mornings or alternate Fridays in term time. After a brief introduction, time is given to listening to what God is saying through a Bible passage followed by a period of quiet, sharing and praying.

Women’s World Day of Prayer
The Women’s World Day of Prayer will be on Friday 3 March and will be held at Harborne Baptist Church in 2017. It is usually in the afternoon, starting at 1.45, but the time and details will be settled early in the New Year. The 2017 programme is being prepared by women of the Philippines, on the theme “Am I being unfair to you?”

New Wine Women – Splendour

As New Wine Women, we want to continue pursuing what it means to display God’s splendour. Together, we want to inspire, challenge and empower each other through worship, testimonies, teaching, and ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Streams in the Desert – Listening to God
Streams in the Desert normally takes place five times a year and is for all women who want to meet with God and find encouragement and spiritual refreshment. Each evening includes worship, a speaker, prayer, a small gift to take home and refreshments on arrival.
