Freedom Course

Many people, including long standing and committed Christians are aware that they are not living in the freedom God desires for them. We can be aware of being held back by life’s hurts, by fear or anxiety, by on-going or recurring problems in life or relationships, or lack of knowing and experiencing God’s love. Other people feel that there is something missing in their Christian experience but don’t know quite what that is. At various times and in various seasons we can all face such issues.

The Freedom Course helps participants to recognise and confront issues that may be holding them back. This occurs as we encounter God’s truth and love. God’s truth is revealed in the Scriptures so we spend time looking at what the Bible says. God’s truth is also revealed as we ask Him to speak prophetically into our lives and circumstances. We also aim for participants to experience God’s love as we meet together week by week. Encountering God, His truth and His love will transform us and in previous courses many people have seen significant breakthrough in their circumstances and understanding. More importantly however, participants learn how to use the tools God has provided to stay free and close to Him as they go on in life. We seek to encourage each participant to develop a deeper personal relationship with Jesus because freedom, wholeness and wellbeing are to be found in Him.

The next Freedom Course takes place on Thursday evenings at church starting on October 4th. The course continues each Thursday until early December and then from January through to early April 2013.

The course is led by Antony Spencer and a team, all of whom have been on a Freedom Course themselves. Each session includes teaching, testimony and small group work; and during the course there will be opportunities for personal prayer appointments. There will also be occasions when there is corporate prayer ministry. All of this is undertaken confidentially and with respect for each person; no personal details or issues are shared openly.

Topics covered on the course include:

  • God’s plan for Freedom
  • Knowing God as Father
  • Healing for the wounded heart
  • Overcoming the damage of sin in our lives
  • Knowing who you are – the start point to Freedom
  • How to recognise and hear God’s voice
  • Understanding the supernatural battle
  • Understanding and using God’s Freedom Toolkit
  • Freedom in our relationship – being good news to other people
  • Understanding strongholds and how they affect us

In the process participants will have the opportunity of discovering the roots of any fear, anxiety, anger, addictions, bitterness and the like that may be present in their lives and to apply God’s remedy for that. We recognise that this might seem daunting at the outset but the prize is that we are set free and equipped to live free in the pattern God originally planned.
