New Early Morning Prayer Gathering

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

In recent days I have had a growing conviction that, even in the midst of all that is currently happening, we should be praying more regularly and specifically for God’s call on St John’s to mission and evangelism in the days ahead. Having shared this with a few others, it seems right to proceed. While the building project is an important part of that calling, in itself it is neither the focal point nor the goal. What is, is our calling to build our lives and ministry on the values of the Kingdom, with a longing to bring God’s forgiving love to those around us – in Harborne; where we live; where we work; where we spend our leisure / free time; and in supporting those sent out from us, who do the same elsewhere in the UK and beyond.

So following on from the week of prayer, we will be gathering every Wednesday morning from 7am to 8am in the Prayer Room (or elsewhere if needed) at St John’s, beginning Wednesday 24 January 2018. We will seek God, and pray for those things He has laid, and will lay, on our hearts.

I realise not everyone will be able to be there in person, so I would ask two things: please come if you can; but if you can’t please try and pray at that time each week.

Such a commitment will require sacrifice. I believe this is the season for such things. I have no idea how long we should do this for; but I know we must.

‘If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’ 2 Chronicles 7:14

With warmest Christian greetings,

Leonard
