Donate a coat to someone who needs it

6374585021_8c64290ba9_b coatsFelix is collecting coats for two Birmingham charities again this year. The two charities this year are ‘Reachout’ which provides support for homeless people.  The other being a refuge which provides accommodation and support for women and children who have had to leave their homes.

Felix would like both men’s, women’s and children’s coats.  He would especially appreciate women’s coats size 8 -16 for women at the refuge.  The refuge manager has also particularly asked for children’s hats, scarves and gloves. Sometimes children who have left their home in a hurry bring a coat but not anything else to keep them warm.

Update from Felix 3rd December 2013

Huge thank you to everyone who’s donated a coat so far. The collection is going well, we have in excess of 70 coats as well as hats, gloves and scarves. All coats are welcome; we haven’t had many men’s coats so far so it would be great to have some more. Please be careful not to leave coats unattended near the collection point – this week we inadvertently picked up two families coats including wallet and car keys! (Soon returned!)

In 2011 St John’s collected 150 coats, last year there were 200. Felix would love to top that. Please leave coats in the main hall on Sundays in the crate that will be clearly marked. Last day for collections is 15th December as we will then deliver them to the charities before Christmas.

Any coat is fine providing it is in reasonable condition.

Do feel free to arrange collections at work or school and bring those coats along as well.

Any queries on this speak to Felix Cole or contact The Church Office or ring  0121 427 4601 .
