tellmystory – ‘Calm after the Storm’

tellmystory – ‘Calm after the Storm’

I wanted to share a recent example of how God knows exactly what we need and blesses us in ways far beyond our imagination or expectations.

Feeling exhausted after only 3 hours’ sleep (the students in the flat above the one in which I was staying this weekend in Aberystwyth were partying until 5am), I went for a walk along the promenade on Sunday morning. The B&B owner had offered to look after my travel bag which gave me an unforeseen freedom.

The sun came out, the stones glistened on the beach, inviting me down, and on that near-deserted beach I felt such a sense of peace and joy. The ‘icing on the cake’ was coming across a chap sitting on a breakwater with his guitar, singing worship songs in Welsh. I lingered for a while as he was singing ‘light of the World’ and ‘Hide me now’, the last line of which goes something along the lines of  ‘I will be still and know you are God.’ In that moment my restless soul was refreshed and the negative effects of the previous night were dissipated.
