‘tellmystory’ – “what a wonderful team”

tellmystory – “what a wonderful team”
Alison Earey – September 2013

“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it”.
1 Corinthians 12:27

I was very aware when Christine Potter died of the many people who had loved and supported her from St John’s family. Today at the funeral, and on Wednesday at Peter’s funeral, I was once again amazed and felt blessed to be part of a church who freely give their time and energy to love, care and do practical acts of service.

A considerable number of people after Christine’s service said how welcomed they had felt. One vicar in disguise (no dog collar) told me that she had been welcomed by nine people as she arrived, and how wonderful that was. People spoke about the wonderful food and hospitality. One lady, who does not normally go to church, said that she would like to stay at St John’s because people were so friendly.

So, church family I just wanted to acknowledge what a wonderful team and how blessed we all are. Thanks be to God.

Yes I quite agree, Alison – there was a fantastic sense of church family both on Wednesday and Friday. I’m glad you have written about this – well done!
