‘Just Another Hour’

ClocksJust Another Hour is a new meeting for intercessory prayer.

Meetings will be each Thursday, from 9.30am at St John’s, normally for about an hour (term time only).

The first meeting will be on Thursday 26th September

Just Another Hour will be open to all regular members of St John’s Church who are free to gather for prayer at that time of the week – whether young or not-so young, male and female. It is hoped most participants will come to see this as a regular commitment.

Just Another Hour
will be led by Beryl Beavis and will seek counsel and support from Nigel as Vicar.

The focus for prayer will often be guided by:
• The known needs arising from the regular and occasional opportunities in the mission and ministry of St John’s Church;
• Particular individual needs usually included in the weekly prayer update sheets, Living Stones prayer sheets or brought to the attention of the Leader in time for a particular meeting;
• Known request to support in prayer any prayer walking or community-soaking prayer going on simultaneously or during the same week;
• Other matters highlighted in the group as they seek together to listen to what the Spirit is saying.

Participants in Just Another Hour should expect to:
1. Support and embrace the oversight of the Leader in directing the use of the meeting times. This may include leading a meeting or a part of the meeting as or when asked;
2. Enthusiastically engage in praying out-loud as much as in silence;
3. Be able to make space for listening to God more than delivering our “shopping list”;
4. Come to meetings aiming to set aside personal needs in the service of others;
5. Refer back to Nigel, through the leader matters involving other forms of “spiritual warfare” for him to deal with at the appropriate time.
