Harvest at St John’s (6th October 2013)

Ears of wheatWe will be celebrating Harvest at St John’s on Sunday 6th October. Please bring your gifts to any of our services on that day – at 9.15am, 11.00am, 3.00pm and 6.30pm.

Bearing in mind the significant and substantial needs across the city we encourage people to bring the sort of gifts that can be put into the hands of organisations already set up and equipped to get our gifts to people who need them.

This year all our gifts will be divided between:

The Trussell Trust (which has several centres within the city)
Karis Neighbour Scheme
Helping Hands (who we support through the regular collection bins available throughout the year).

It will help if your gifts can be within the following items:

Stews, soups casseroles, curry, corned beef, ham, spam, baked beans, spaghetti tomatoes, potatoes, peas, carrots, rice pudding, sponge pudding, fruit, custard
Rice, pasta, spaghetti, sugar, tea bags, cereals, uht or powdered milk, fruit juice, biscuits or snack bars
Jam, fish and meat spreads, pasta sauce, curry sauce
Soap, shower gels, toothpaste, deodorant, toilet rolls, nappies.

We are looking for a number of people to assist us with the delivery of these goods on Monday 7th October. Please offer your services through the Parish Office – email no later than 3.00pm on Friday 4th October.

It would be a real help if you did NOT bring fresh fruit, fresh vegetables or flowers as these create a distribution burden that is hard to discharge. We do and will visit a number of homes where we have personal contact with isolated or needy people with bespoke gifts at this time.
