A major fire broke out at Stead & Simpson shoe shop, near the old Clock Tower in Harborne High Street, at about 6am today, Thursday, 2 May. This caused extensive damage to the shoe shop; and adjacent shops, Super Drug, and Coral were also damaged in the blaze.

There was severe disruption to traffic, pedestrians, shop keepers and their customers as a stretch of Harborne High street was cordoned off by police and fire services. Traffic and buses were diverted and shops in the vicinity of the fire closed.

Harborne High Street is part of St John’s Parish. Healing on the Streets takes place every two weeks further down the road; and we deliver cakes to all the shops at Christmas.
Please pray for all the shopkeepers and nearby residents and others who may have been affected by this blaze.
