Feedback from Helping Hands

Ashley Keymer, Helping Hands Coordinator has written to Chris King our Facilities Supervisor at Church; and to  members of St John’s to thank us for our contributions:

“I am writing on behalf of the Helping Hands team to say a most sincere thank you for your hard work in co-ordinating food donations for us, and to members of your church congregation for their generous and regular gifts of tins and packets of food to our food bank.

“We are very grateful for your help and support and it is a pleasure and privilege to be in fellowship with you as together we can help to feed hungry people in our community who have no one else to turn to in a crisis.

“During 2012 the requests for emergency food boxes escalated dramatically, and our biggest challenge was to make sure we were able to keep pace with the demand, and your generosity made it so much easier for us to do this.

“Thank you again, and we look forward to continuing our friendship in the New Year.”

It is good to know that there is such a n organisation as Helping Hands to ensure that those in need get help. It is however dreadful that there is a need for a food bank in this rich and relatively prosperous country in the 21st century. I know that things are a bit difficult at the moment but the UK remains one of the richest countries in the Western world. It is good that we at St John’s can be of help/
