Restore Family Party Tuesday 19th February

The Restore Family Party was cancelled due to heavy snow but has now been rearranged for Tuesday 19th February.  It will run from 12noon to 3.00pm at St John’s.

Restore  would be grateful for offers of cakes for the party feast and also volunteers who can help with welcome, craft activities, serving food, washing up etc.   There is a sign up sheet for cakes in the Main Hall. If you wish to volunteer, please contact Jeremy Thompson, Befriending Co-ordinator at Restore.

This annual party is a great opportunity for refugee families to enjoy fun and laughter together. The event includes party food, craft activities, games, and entertainment from Wolly the Clown.    Jeremy Thompson, Befriending Co-ordinator with Restore (supported by Living Stones) comments:  “The family party is one of the most joyful events in Restore’s calendar. It’s fantastic to see children having so much fun and going home proudly carrying new toys. We are hugely grateful to all at St John’s who help with this event and show God’s welcome and love in very practical ways”.

Restore is a project of Birmingham Churches Together which welcomes and supports refugees who have fled persecution in their home countries.

How can you be involved in the party?

We aim to give every child a gift to take home.
If you would like to donate a new toy then the ages that we are currently needing are for babies up to 18 months or boys and girls ages 8 – 10 .  Please wrap it, label it clearly and bring it to church on Sunday 17 February.  Please do not include guns or anything relating to war or violence).

You could bake a cake.
There is a sign up sheet in the main hall or contact Jeremy Thompson. Please bring you cake to church by  12 noon on Tuesday 19th.

You could volunteer to help on the day.
Volunteers are needed to blow up balloons before the event, welcome guests, help with craft, serve food, wash up and clear away. Again please sign up in the Main Hall or contact Jeremy Thompson
