A Busy December in Toddlers

Beccy Allen our Toddler Pastor looks back over the past few weeks:

“We have had a busy December in Toddlers this year.  God has been doing wonderful things. At the beginning of the month we had two days where we offered the ‘grown ups’ a chance to sit, pray and listen to what God might be saying to them this Christmas time.

“Annie di Castiglione and others blessed the parents and carers with a fantastic prayer space and all of our slots were filled by members of the Toddler Community – many of whom had never experienced anything like it before. The conversations we had afterwards were often emotional and it felt like a significant moment for many. We also celebrated with one lady in our Toddler community who gave her life to Christ.

“The last three days of term were taking up with Toddler parties, which involved, bubbles, balloons, dressing up and making Christmas decorations. All of the parties were busy and a lot of fun.  Everyone got a book ‘My first Christmas’ and some chocolate as a Christmas gift. Despite the coughs and sneezes that have been spreading diseases we were able to share a ‘Happy Christmas’ with everyone there.

“I am writing this on the 19th of December just after our first ever Toddler Christmas Service. We held the service especially for our Toddler family and we were able to take time to share the story of Christmas in much greater detail with them.

“We had planned for about 40 parents and carers and 50 children – we didn’t actually take a count but the hard workers in the kitchen know that many more came! It was a short and simple service with the aim of giving everyone the chance to take a moment out of the busyness of Christmas to remember why we celebrate. It was also a service full of joy for little ones (and big ones too). It felt like a very special way to end the term.

“Toddlers is a huge operation. Each morning we open our doors to between 70 and 100 adults and even more children. For many we are their only contact with a church. It takes wonderful and committed people to make it happen and I’ll take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work and support in this ministry. We are all taking a well-deserved break. If anyone asks, the doors open again on Monday 14th January 2013 and we are looking forward to doing it all over again.

“Happy Christmas and Blessings for 2013.”
