Feed back from the St John’s Students Family Lunch

Vinod has given us some feedback from the Student Family lunch on 25th November:

“Thanks to our Special Guests for making the Family Lunch, hosted by the St John’s students, so enjoyable. Extra-special thanks to Laura Gilyead for taking a lot of responsibility for coordinating.

“In total we catered for around 60 people, and were treated to baked potatoes with a choice of toppings.  We had a tremendous selection of dessert, and I think we were all spotted lining up for seconds!   This was the first ever lunch organised and prepared by the students.  With sufficient encouragement they could be persuaded to do something similar in 2013!

“Every one who came was given a goody-bag, containing a number of treats to encourage them to have a break and some time to themselves and with God.  There was also a goody-bag inside the goody-bag.  If you want to know what that was, you need to find someone who came to the lunch and ask them…

“Many families have signed up to offer a Sunday Lunch to students from January, which means that we can assure their families back home we are looking after them!  Some have also expressed an interest in being involved in an Adopt-A-Student scheme.”

Adopt-A-Student/Sunday Lunch

Vinod and Annie are considering what this could include and will be in touch with those who’ve signed up.

If you’re interested in being involved in either Sunday Lunch or Adopt-A-Student, or have some ideas or experience you could share with us, please let Vinod know.”  Or you can get in touch with the Church Office or telephone 0121 427 4601 and your details will be passed onto Vinod.
