Helpful information for Christian Aid Week Volunteers…

As a volunteer you will will receive a short Guide to Collecting, a badge, and a supply of envelopes for the houses in the road where you have offered to deliver and collect. There will be spare envelopes for those houses where the occupant cannot find the envelope which was delivered.

This year the envelopes will provide a space to insert details of a drop off point (St John’s) if people miss the collection.

Envelopes will need to be delivered as soon as possible on or after Sunday 12 May, and calls made at each house for donations by the end of Saturday 18 May.

If possible a second visit should be made to homes where there was no reply and a leaflet left as a reminder about giving online or dropping off a donation at St John’s.

The best time to find people at home is often early evening 6.30 pm onwards (no collections to be made after 9 pm). However, some people will be available during the day, so it can be worth making one of the visits during the day if you have the time.

Encourage donors to sign the gift aid declaration on the envelope if they are eligible; this adds an extra 25% to the total given.

All collected envelopes and used badges to be returned to St John’s on Sunday 19 May.

If you have any questions and/or to volunteer please email Helen Nixon.
