Prayer For Church Members (4th October)

People in our fellowship who are ill but not mentioned by name in the list below.

Andrea Mason
Following a successful surgery on Saturday, Andrea writes: “I would like specific prayer that the discomfort would subside and that the knee would bend. In particular that the scar tissue would not re-accumulate and that with continued physiotherapy input that I will be able to return back into work next month.”

Mac Rowse
Please pray for Mac Rowse this week following surgery on Saturday 29th September. He is undergoing treatment for a small bladder cancer. Pray for full healing for him.

Family of Bernard Bishop (Grandfather of Michelle Bishop)
Please pray for the family of Bernard who passed away this week following a stroke. Please keep his family in your prayers. Michelle particularly asks for prayer that they have a good week.

Caroline Harvey
Please pray for Caroline as she sets off to North-East India with Revival Fires for two and a half weeks. She writes: “We will be travelling around and ministering to people. I would most appreciate prayer for good sleep and energy, protection, being able to clearly hear God’s voice and for strong & peaceful team relationships.”.

Michael Waters
Michael had a hip replacement on 3 August. For 6 weeks he worked hard to regain mobility. Sadly he then needed hip revision surgery on 16 September to treat a deep infection in the new hip. Please pray for him as he starts the process of recovery all over again, and ask that the coming weeks of IV antibiotics in hospital will zap any lingering infection. Thank you.

The Brown Family
Please pray for the Brown family following the death of Doug on Sept 15. He died in Hereford hospital from cancer of the gall bladder and several distributed secondaries. Jane and Doug were members of St John’s for many years,  sang in the choir, were home group leaders and ministered pastorally to many church members. Doug is survived by Jane, their son Edward and Jessica their daughter.

Lesley Osborn
Please continue to pray for Lesley. Pray for healing and that she will regain strength whilst continuing on renal dialysis.

Simon Martin
Brian and Christine ask for further prayer for Simon and his situation.
Simon’s Care Home Solicitor delivered submissions to CQC to urge them to reconsider their decision to refuse to register the purpose-built flat for Simon’s rehabilitation placement. Please pray for a speedy outcome for Simon for whatever is best so that he can be supported to progress.

Joan Benham
Pray for Joan who has had a spell in hospital. She is now back at St Joseph’s Care Home but is not well.

June Fluck
June has returned to Bryony House Care Home after a spell in hospital following a fall. Pray that her mobility will improve and that she would be protected from further falls.

Paul Beard
Please pray for Paul who had hip surgery on 17th September. Pray that he will have a quick and full recovery.

Thelma Stock
Please continue to pray for Thelma’s sister and for Thelma as she supports her.

Sam Parker
Sam has now found work and started on Monday 10th September. Please pray that he will settle in well.

Elizabeth Brown (mother of Helen Van Vliet)
Helen writes: “Thank you for continuing to pray for my Mum who is much, much better, and still improving. Please continue to pray in the last little bit of her recovery – its been a long process, but she’s nearly there!”

Lorna Uden
Please continue to pray for Lorna who is still suffering from very painful blocked tear ducts. Please pray for complete healing and that she will be given the necessary treatment soon.

Elizabeth Richards
Please continue to pray for Elizabeth for restoration of vision following a recent stroke.

Sarah Ball
Sarah writes “I am thankful that I have been able to do more recently. Would you please continue to pray for increasing energy and a full recovery!”

Jean Evans (friend of Rosemary Kennedy)
Rosemary writes: “My keen Christian friend Jean Evans in Cardiff is having difficulty with the effects of Chemotherapy. She can’t go home and has to be looked after. Fortunately she has support. Please pray that some progress can be made in her treatment.”

Beryl Beavis
Beryl writes: ‘Thank you for your prayers. The pain is almost gone. Please continue to pray for complete healing of the nerves and muscles.’

Ruth Iliya Kwache 
Please pray for Ruth as she is not feeling well.

Leah Sharibu
Please continue to pray for Leah Sharibu – a 16-year-old Christian girl who was kidnapped by Boko Haram and has not yet been freed because she is a Christian who has refused to deny her faith.

Christiane Neumann
Christiane would value prayer for recovery of energy and increased mobility, and that she might have no recurrence or spread of the cancer.  She is very thankful for all the prayer support.

The Moore Family
Please continue to pray for the Moore family and especially Sarah.

Asher Sinclair (2 years)
Pray for Asher, his parents David and Helen, his sister Erin, and his grandparents Will and Jo Drever. Asher has been at Great Ormond Street Hospital, is now home, but continues to need treatment.


Older members of our congregation especially for people with dementia and those who care for them.

Pray for the Older Members of our community.

Pray for Catriona and her team as they run monthly services at The Kenrick Centre. Pray also for all the residents attending these events.

Carers in our church family who are looking after those who are ill or in need of on-going care.

Housebound members of our fellowship, and those in nursing homes.

Those who can no longer attend church for a variety of reasons.

PCC members as they serve the church in 2018-2019.

St John’s Buildings Project Steering Group as they meet fortnightly to discuss, plan and pray about our future building project.

Ben Baker, who was ordained as Deacon in Oxford on Sat 30 June. He will be moving to St Mary’s, Headington for his Curacy.

Sean Clancey, who was ordained as Deacon in Birmingham on Sun 24 June. He will be moving to St Chad’s, Rubery for his Curacy.

Fiona Gregson and Nathan Burden as they begin their work for St Johns.

And Mark Roper as he continues training for ordained ministry.
