    Don’t you think there should be something on the sign-up screen about data protection, and not using people’s contact info for any other purpose.

    Hi Brian,
    The short answer is no. The long answer is that this, as you’ve shown, is generally expected – but we’re trying to move away this sort of thing for a two main reasons:
    1) We want to move to a default position of trust – where people presume that we will be compliant with the law, rather than need to be told that we will.
    2) We want all our web forms and communications in general to be clear and simple. Adding extra bits and bobs like this interrupts user flow and can cause confusion.

    At any rate, if there are concerns about our compliance with things like the Data Protection Act and PECR, I’d much rather people got in touch to talk about them – we can probably be more help that way.
