Thy Kingdom Come

WHAT

A ‘global wave of prayer’ consisting of churches gathering to pray that their friends, families and neighbours come to know Jesus Christ.

WHEN

Thursday 25th May to Sunday 4th June (the week leading up to Pentecost Sunday)

THE PLAN

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

  • Prayer in the Upper Room at St John’s
As with previous prayer times at St John’s the Upper Room will be set up as a place for you to meet with God in prayer. Feel free to turn up and pray on your own or in groups.
  • Prayer Walk
This is not as scary as it sounds. We will simply go out in pairs (or more), walking around the parish, or your own neighbourhood, declaring blessing in Jesus’ name and praying that people will come to know Him as their Lord and Saviour. Please feel free to text 07564 875051 as you go out, so that we can pray protection over you as you prayer walk. For more info on Prayer Walking Guidelines click herePlease add your details to the sign up the list in the Prayer Room.
  • Do you work in the city? Any who would like to meet up and prayer walk over lunch during the week please contact Keith Mason on namosk@sky.com
  • Family and Children’s Hour
On Saturday 27th May at 3pm. ‘Prayer Treasure Hunt’ around central Harborne.  Follow the map and the clues and pray for the locations where you find the hidden fishes! The hour will start and finish at St John’s.
Children are also welcome at other times in the Upper Room under adult supervision.
  • World Prayer Centre Activities                                                                                          There are lots of activities at Birmingham Cathedral during Thy Kingdom Come, organised by the World Prayer Centre. Find out more on their website.  See details below of one of their events on the 3 June.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, is inviting Christians around the world to pray as one for people to know Jesus Christ. He writes: ‘I cannot remember in my life anything that I’ve been involved in where I have sensed so clearly the work of the Spirit.’ Check out this video featuring the Archbishop, talking about the power of prayer.

Put the dates in your diary and however you do it, make sure you join in, as we pray together ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.
