Chris and Clair Dinsdale who work in Birmingham City Centre with ChaplaincyPlus

2012 marks the 9th year of serving the Birmingham business community by being part of daily business life. In today’s fast moving business world there is seldom time for people to listen, and a key part of the work of ChaplaincyPlus is giving people time to be heard. This is done through confidential pastoral care and formal individual counseling.

Chris and Clair write: “We love encouraging Christians in the business community and want them to realise that Jesus is both present in their workplace and passionate about their work. Our hope is that we will all become better disciples who, by our actions and our words, follow God’s commandment to love Him and our neighbours in our workplaces.

“ChaplaincyPlus also initiated and hosts large gatherings such as Carols for the Business Community and the Birmingham Prayer Breakfast. In addition there are special interest groups for City Women and City Lights for young adults.”

Chris is team leader of ChaplaincyPlus, and a typical day for him is taken up with supporting the 750 people on his database, through email and one to one meetings. Much of his work goes on over meals, meeting people for breakfast or lunch! He is currently organising the next Birmingham Prayer Breakfast on 22 June. Approximately 150 people will gather in the Council House to pray for the city.

Pray for the practical preparations for the prayer breakfast, and for God’s blessing on all the guests both from the City Council and business leaders, whether they have a particular faith or none.

Clair is a counsellor, and although much of her time is spent counselling, she also organises and facilitates City Women. Their next lunch is on 21st May when Clair and others will be speaking about being disciples in their workplace.

Pray for Clair as she coordinates and prepares for the lunch.
For both Chris and Clair pray for strength and health in the midst of a busy working life.
Pray also for those working in the city marketplace which can be stressful, and where difficult and important decisions need to be made daily.
