People in our fellowship who are ill but not mentioned by name in the list below.

Tom Walker (vicar of St John’s from 1970-1991)
Tom Walker passed away on Thursday 26th May at home in Sussex.  Please pray for his widow Molly, his daughter Charis and her husband Paul, his son Tim and his wife Antonia and their families.

The family have sent us details about the funeral arrangements: “There will be a service of celebration and thanksgiving for Tom’s life, at 12.45pm on Thurs 9th June at All Saints, Lindfield, Sussex –  commencing with a time of worship from 12.30 in the church.  You are most welcome to join with us to celebrate Tom’s life.”

Brian Martin
Christine has emailed to say: “We would like to thank folks who prayed. After suddenly being taken ill and having emergency surgery, Brian is making a good recovery. He is expecting to leave hospital on 1st June. We have both seen the Lord’s Hand upholding and blessing us through this time and have valued your prayer support. Thank you.”

Bernie Barber (sister-in-law of Ginny Cornish)
Ginny has emailed to say: “Bernie died yesterday, Wed 1st June late evening, peacefully, surrounded by her family. We give thanks for the peaceful passing and the help of many friends and family who so faithfully cared for her. We pray for Jim, Tom and Ben in their loss, and also Bernie’s family, the Finnegans.”

Christiane Neumann
Pray for Christiane who is undergoing treatment for cancer.

Barbara Hawkins
Pray for Barabara in the QEHB.

Ruth Spalton
Pray for Ruth Spalton our oldest church member who celebrated her 104th Birthday on Thursday 2nd June

Barry Blakemore
Yvonne and family send their sincere thanks to the St John’s family for all their prayers and the many expressions of love bestowed upon them following the loss of Barry. A thanksgiving and funeral service for Barry was held on 18th May.

Graham Hopkinson
Graham has had a moderate heart attack and suffered some muscle damage. He has had a stent fitted but asks for prayer for significant restoration of muscle strength.

Sid and Margaret Ball (parents of Sarah Ball)
Margaret remains in a nursing home.  Please continue to pray for good communication between the various doctors and the family.   Sid is still in hospital but the staff are hoping to start a phased discharge.  Please pray for all the medical staff and carers involved in this process and that all Sid’s needs would be met.

Valerie Nield
Please pray for Valerie and her family following Keith’s sudden death on the 21st April. A thanksgiving and funeral service for Keith was held on 11th May.

Fred Collin (former member of St John’s)
Give thanks for many answered prayers following a major heart attack.  Fred has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.

Des Cole
Des has given us an update on 5th May.  The course of radiotherapy for the prostate cancer which started in March has now been completed. He praises God that the side effects were better than feared, and quite manageable. During the next few months Des will undergo monitoring for the bowel cancer and the prostate cancer which had been diagnosed.  Pray that the various tests will reveal that the chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments have been effective in removing the cancer cells.  Pray for good outcomes for Des following many months of illness.

Parents of Keith Mason
Please pray for Keith’s father who has deteriorating health problems and is currently undergoing investigations. Keith asks for prayer for both of his parents at this difficult time.

Hazel Thompson (Jeremy Thompson’s Mother)
Hazel had a knee replacement operation on 15th April and is now home from hospital.  She is making good progress but there is a way to go yet. Please pray for her recovery and increased mobility.

Hazel Herbert
Please pray for Hazel who developed pneumonia following a chest infection.  Pray for her continued recovery, which could take several weeks.

Les Hyett
Update from Norah on 6th April. “Les is now home after two weeks in the QEHB.  He is settling back into life at home and receiving frequent visits from nurses and carers.”  Please continue to pray for Les.

Lesley Osborn
Lesley is home from hospital following recent valve replacement surgery. Lesley writes: “I am getting on well with the new heart valve and gradually increasing my strength and what I can do. I am still at risk of my kidneys failing more permanently, but I am very grateful that they rallied after an episode of acute renal failure some while ago, and then the heart surgery. Thanks to everyone for their ongoing prayers”.

Asher Sinclair (five months)
Pray for his parents David and Helen, his sister Erin, and his grandparents Will and Jo Drever at this very difficult time.  Asher is at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Older members of our congregation especially for people with dementia and those who care for them.

Carers in our church family who are looking after those who are ill or in need of on-going care.

Housebound members of our fellowship, and those in Nursing Homes.

Those who can no longer attend church for a variety of reasons


Pray for our new vicar Leonard Browne and his wife Alison as they prepare to move to Birmingham in the summer ahead of Leonard being licensed on 7th September to St John’s Church.

Pray for Antony as he continues to lead the church through the interregnum.

Pray for the memberts of the PCC as they serve the church in 2016-2017.
