Thy Kingdom Come – a national week of prayer, 8th-15th May 2016

Thy Kingdom Come …for people to come to know Jesus

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are inviting churches to pray for the evangelisation of the nation during the week before Pentecost Sunday, 15th May.

This is a call for every member of St John’s Church to pray.

Pray alone, pray together, pray quietly, pray with passionate abandon!

We shall be joining in with the week of prayer by encouraging existing groups/meetings at Church to earnestly pray for the renewal of the Holy Spirit, and for people they know to become Christians.

You may like to prayerfully choose five people to commit to praying for.

There will be materials available to help during the week.

Wrist Band for Thy Kingdom ComePray for Five friends

We are suggesting that each member of St John’s prayerfully chooses five people to pray for – that they would come to know the love of Jesus for themselves:

  • On Sunday 8th May we will have wallet sized cards available for you to use as a reminder to pray
  • We will also have leather wrist bands available in the Prayer Room – tie five knots in your band and wear it as a reminder to pray

The Prayer Room will be set aside as a place for prayer:

  • Monday – Friday 9th-13th May from 8am-4.30pm, with a special focus each day from 2pm-3pm; and others, as indicated below.

Special focus programme so far..

  • Monday 9th:  2pm-3pm, Focus on Toddlers’ ministry; 7pm-8pm focus on groups that regularly meet in the Church building
  • Tuesday 10th:  2pm-3pm, Focus on Internationals: Cameo; International Wives; Globe Cafe

Just imagine if every member of every Church in the UK was of one mind and heart.

Praying the prayer that Jesus taught us ‘Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.’

The possibilities are endless…

Please put the date in your diary and get ready to pray!
