Happy New Year 2016

Antony SpencerAntony Spencer our Associate Vicar writes:

‘What does 2016 hold for you and for us as a community?

“What are the themes, priorities and dreams that God is laying on your heart and which are important for Him and for you?

“In our evening service on 3rd January we will greet the new year and set the scene for the year ahead as individuals and for us as a community of God’s people.”

A thought for a New Year from Antony

I will extol the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.

I will glory in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together. Psalm 34:1-3

These first three verses from Psalm 34 have been much in my mind as we move into a new year. The psalmist makes a personal commitment to lift high and praise the Lord. He then invites his hearers to join him in glorifying and exalting the name of the Lord.

“Glorifying God in the fruit of our lives and relationships, and exalting His name in worship, is both personal and corporate.

“In this year ahead I invite all at St John’s to glorify the Lord with me; together, let us exalt His name.”
