Sanctuary

Monthly Prayer and Worship Evening

First Wednesday of each month, 7.30-9.00pm at St John’s

The vision for Sanctuary was always to be a place where we can meet together and just be with God. In worship, in song, in praise, in stillness. And it is important that we do this together, learning God’s ways of grace and trust towards each other.

As we come to Sanctuary, I’d like us to hold on tightly to these values. Sanctuary is to be time set aside for that holy encounter, together.

Along with that, there is the sense that, as a church, we are preparing ourselves for the next season around the corner. My suspicion is that this may well come quickly, so we do need to be right with the Lord and ready together.

I’d like us to use Sanctuary as an opportunity to delve deeper into all that God has for us. It is the place to take risks, to trust God and to discover more of Him as we encourage each other in the process!

With that in mind, we are going to use the UP, OUT, IN themes to give us a focus each month.

UP

an extended time of worship and praise- maybe loud and exuberant, maybe quiet and still

We worship the One who will be exalted in all the world. Among all the nations. So we worship with a worldwide perspective. Standing with our brothers and sisters across the world. Asking for mercy on our own city. Proclaiming His greatness over the nations…

In

a time to be especially open to the Holy Spirit’s prompting and presence. To minister to each other in the power of the Holy Spirit in the prophetic, etc

It has been so good to have people freely sharing what the Lord has placed on their hearts and revealed to them at recent Sanctuary meetings, and I’d love to encourage that to continue and grow. Please do seek the Lord in advance of these meetings and feel free to come with something to share, whether a verse, a thought, a word, a picture, etc. Also be ready for God to speak as we are gathered…

As Moses declared, we cannot and will not go anywhere without the presence of God.  As His people, I believe we are to come first as worshippers, and then to go out as workers, living lives to His glory alone, achieving all that He has asked of us. I so look forward to us meeting together as the people of God, singing the praises of God, seeking the Presence of God. Together.
