Celebrating the life of Marjorie Featherstone

Featherstone Family

Susie, Marjorie, Anthony and Paul

After a very brave fight against cancer Marjorie died on 6th July – full of faith and peace and surrounded by her family. Marjorie has worshipped at St John’s for many years and was a key member of the finance team. We will miss her very much and hold Paul, Anthony and Susie in our prayers.

Visiting the Chapel of Rest
Family and friends can visit the Chapel of Rest by prior arrangement with Mortons Funeral Directors in Northfield (tel 0121 476 9111) until Monday 20th July at the following times:  Monday – Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am until 12 noon

Arrangements for Tuesday 21st July
On route to the church the hearse will pause momentarily at 11:45 outside Marjorie’s former home, 13 Wentworth Road (B17 9SH) for the short journey to St John’s Church, Harborne. Family and friends are invited to walk behind the hearse.

A Thanksgiving Service to celebrate the life of Marjorie will commence at 12:00 noon at St John’s Church, High Street, Harborne (B17 9PT) lasting about an hour. Paul strongly encourages everybody to stay on after the service for food and refreshments which will be served in the church premises until 3pm.

This will be followed by a short committal service to which everybody is welcome commencing at 15:30 at Lodge Hill Crematorium off Weoley Park Road in Selly Oak (B29 5AA) which is a 15 minute drive from the church.

Other Information
By request family flowers only with donations to St Mary’s Hospice – Gift Aid envelopes will be available at the church for those who would like to contribute.

At this time we both mourn and celebrate; we mourn that Marjorie is no longer with us, but celebrate that she is now with the Lord. As has been said about believers, “When we are born, we come into the world crying and surrounded by people full of joy…when we leave the world, we are full of joy surrounded by people who are crying.” By way of celebration, and to reflect Marjorie’s zest and vitality in life, you are welcome to wear bright colours.

Parking at the church is very limited and will be for disabled or elderly guests only.

A book will be available to record your names and memories of Marjorie.
