Toddler Pastor Job Profile

Purpose of Post:
To oversee the work of St John’s Toddler Groups, using opportunities to share the love of Christ.
Qualities you will display:
A heart for pre-school children and their parents and carers
Excellent interpersonal skills
Relevant experience and/or training
Administrative and basic IT skills
Good Bible knowledge and ability to communicate Christian truth
Ability to lead and develop a team

Background and knowledge:

A committed Christian who is prayerful and open to the renewing work of the Holy Spirit and one who holds to traditional church beliefs and teaching in matters of faith and conduct
A willingness to work within the authority structures of the Church of England and be a worshipping member of St John’s

What the job entails:
The following areas will be within the scope of the post.
To ensure that a warm, open, safe and welcoming environment is provided for children and their carers
To show the love of Jesus to all those attending through conversation and play
To recruit, develop and train volunteers
To ensure that a full team of helpers is present at each session of Toddlers
To ensure that all DBS checks are in place for volunteers and appropriate training has been delivered
To be responsible for the supply, cleanliness, condition and safety of all resources, equipment and toys
To oversee the registration at each session and ensure guidelines for numbers are adhered to
To develop creative links into the main church life and family though appropriate bridges
To arrange and lead special events/services e.g. at Christmas and Easter
To provide up to date information for the church website and Facebook page
To monitor and manage collection of fees
Encourage prayer support for Toddlers

Other duties:
To provide reports of work as requested
To undertake relevant training as needed
To carry out other relevant duties as may from time to time be agreed

Progress made in delivery of objectives
Development of volunteer team
General positive feedback

Working arrangements:

The post-holder will report to the Operations Manager
This is a permanent contract and a probationary period of 6 months will be applicable
The post attracts 5 weeks paid annual leave (pro rata) plus statutory bank holidays (pro rata), payment will be made in lieu of holidays as this post is term time only
The post requires an enhanced DBS disclosure

Nature of Post:
Permanent, Term Time, 14 hours per week, Monday & Tuesday 8.30am – 12.30pm with additional hours to be worked flexibly.


£20,051.00 – £23,495.00 (F.T.E.) including 9% pension allowance. This equates to £5614.00 – £6579.00 per annum, paid in 12 equal payments. An additional payment will be made in lieu of holiday entitlement (£545.00 based on £20,051.00). The pay scale is incremental with annual increases linked to the appraisal process.
