‘Issues of Old Age’ – day conference at St John’s 7th March

Brochure front pageA free one-day conference organised by The Pilgrims’ Friend Society in partnership with St John’s.
Saturday 7th March from 10am to 4pm

A choice of seminars will give positive, practical and spiritual insights into 3 topics.

1. Dementia Update
Janet Jacob is a former care home manager and psychogeriatric nurse, with years of experience in training and caring for people with dementia. She is a
regular speaker at national events and church groups.

The seminar covers current knowledge, the quality of life possible with proper adjustments to lifestyle and the essential circles of support for everyone involved.

2. Developing Usefulness in Old Age
Louise Morse is a cognitive behavioural therapist, widely published writer and author of books on dementia, and is media and communications manager for the
Pilgrims’ Friend Society.

The Scriptures say that we have been equipped for the good works God planned for us even before we were born.
This seminar examines the biblical view, the world view, opportunities and hindrances to continuing in those ‘good works’ for as long as we are able.

3. What Retirement means for Christians
Peter Jacob is a former Walk Thru’ the Bible Ministries instructor, a ‘Gideon’,and church elder. He also teaches and helps support two small, independent
evangelical churches in Sheffield.

Retirement is one of life’s major transition points, and it should be a time of great spiritual growth. We need to be prepared for an even greater battle, as Jeremiah 12:5 indicates.
This seminar is not about financial or secular retirement plans, but about fulfilling God’s purpose to the very end of life.

There will be a Q&A Panel Time for questions from the floor to speakers.
