More about our new Youth Pastor, Mark Watson

Mark WatsonMark Watson joined the staff team at St John’s on 5th January.  Here is what he wrote about himself.

Mark grew up in Bromley (South East London) and has been involved in local and national youth ministry ever since he left school.

Mark has been on the team for youth venues at Spring Harvest and New Wine for a number of years, including bible teaching in the ‘Distinctive’ venue of Spring Harvest Skegness in 2014 and 2015.  He also led the ‘Club One’ venue at New Wine North in 2013 and at New Wine United week 1 in 2014.

Before joining the staff team at St John’s Mark spent a year and a half working for Youth for Christ planning and delivering a whole range of weeks and weekends away for young people.

Prior to his time with Youth for Christ Mark spent three years studying for a degree in theology.

Mark enjoys playing squash, watching films and TV box sets (in particular ‘One Tree Hill’) and eating good food with friends.

Mark is passionate about seeing young people encounter Jesus and grow in faith and discipleship. His heart is to see them enter into a relationship with God that will stand the test of time, with the experiences and skills to live for Jesus whatever life may throw at them.

He longs to see young people who are passionate about and actively involved in church life, mission and evangelism. Further, Mark would love to see every young person in the St John’s parish and beyond reached with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
