Bake and Pray is on its way

Bake and Pray – It’s that time again…

Catch the vision to reach out to our local area at Christmas.

The idea is that between us we bake or buy enough cakes, so that everyone working in the High Street gets to enjoy something nice to eat at work, in the run up to Christmas.

This is St John’s way of saying thank you to all the shops and businesses on the High Street and in our local community.

How does it work?

Choose your shop from the list in the Main Hall.  Make/buy a cake, and then deliver it to your shop by Saturday 13th December. Full instructions are supplied, and you will be given a Christmas Card to deliver with your cake.

The card also has the times of our Christmas Services.  You can invite them to come along when you deliver your cake. (If delivery is difficult for you please speak to Jude and she will come up with a solution.)

There are 148 shops / businesses to cover this year, so please sign up quickly and make Jude’s job easier. (Read Jude’s Blog – Surprise, joy and delight). Some people have favourite shops so if you want to bake for a particular shop you need to sign up straight away.

Some of the shops are much bigger than others so you can bake as a group in order to provide enough cake.

What to do next?

Sign up on the map of the High Street shops available in the Main Hall from 16th November. Or you can speak to Jude yourself at church, email her, or contact The Church Office and Sue will pass on your details.

Tip: It is a good idea to do a little research on your shop to find out how many people work there so you know how big to make your cake.

What is the ‘pray’ bit of bake and pray?

The idea is that you pray for those working in your shop or business in the run up to Christmas, and beyond if you wish. What to pray for? The success of their business in the current economic climate… for the individuals working there … for any specific problems that they might be facing… I am sure you will think of more…
