Christians in Sport’s aim in delivering Clubhouse coincides with our threefold vision as described in our Game Plan 3 document:

  • Christians everywhere living out their faith in sports clubs and teams.
  • Churches everywhere engaging with local sports communities.
  • Sportspeople everywhere having the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

What is Clubhouse?

  • An evening for sportspeople to be envisioned, equipped and encouraged to Pray for their team/club mates, Play in a way that honours God and Say something of the good news of Jesus in their team/club.
  • An evening for church leaders and workers to hear, think and talk about how to mobilise and equip churches to engage with sport in their community in order to reach and disciple people.
  • An opportunity to meet, network and develop friendships with like-minded sportspeople from across their area

Who’s Clubhouse for?
Clubhouse is for players and athletes, coaches, officials, church leaders and workers, parents, teachers, youth (16+), students, adults and others wanting to reach the world of sport and engage with sport in their community.

Historically, Christians in Sport have used Clubhouse solely as a training evening for those playing regular club sport. We will continue to focus on this audience, providing 2 streams specifically for youth and adult ‘Christians in sport’ but in light of the Olympic legacy, we’re also aiming towards a wider audience across the world of sport. Scripture Union, alongside other UK sports ministries, have done the initial thinking to provide a ‘Church’ breakout group within the evening programme, focusing on mobilising and engaging churches with sport.

This is a very good idea as it links community, sports, fitness and religion. I would like to attend, it sounds very interesting. Sarah Grocutt
