Lesley Osborn
Lesley has had more setbacks with her health in the last few days.  Please pray for Lesley and for wise decisions for her medical team at this time; and also for Oz as he supports her.

Gwen Trow
Pray for Gwen following a hip replacement on Tuesday 2nd September. Pray especially for her mobility to improve, the pain to lessen, and for Caroline who is looking after her.

Peggy Williams
Pray for Peggy following the unexpected death of her son Alan.

Reay Mackay (brother of Judith Mackay)
Reay was diagnosed with bowel cancer last year. All appeared to be well, he had a reversal of his stoma and was not due for another check up until December. However, a routine scan recently revealed he has cancer in his liver and lungs. This is a shock as it was unexpected. He will start a course of chemotherapy shortly.  Judith says: “I’d be grateful if people could pray that he does not have too many side effects; and for wisdom in the decisions he has to make about his treatment.”

Tom and Molly Walker
Molly was been taken into hospital on 13th August  having suffered a stroke.  Please pray for Tom and Molly at this difficult time.

Antony has sent an update to the request re Children’s group leaders from last week – see below dated 14th August

“A short note to encourage your continuing prayer for more leaders and helpers for our Sunday morning children’s groups. We have recently been encouraged that various people have offered ad hoc help and one person has come forward to co-lead Miracle Makers – which was a particularly acute need. There is still need for more leaders and helpers however to ensure that the vision and potential for the work with children is fulfilled. We are approaching particular people in this regard and the note below has recently been forwarded to C group leaders seeking their prayer and suggestion of others whom God may be calling.

“Please do continue to pray that the Lord of the harvest will send out workers into this important part of his harvest field.

*Please could you pray about a particular issue within the life of St John’s. As you know, we have well over 100 children involved in our children’s groups on a Sunday morning, ably led by a gifted and committed group of people who serve faithfully and creatively week by week. However, this group of people is very small relative to the number of children that we have, and they carry a heavy load week by week, and we have reached something of a critical point.

14th August: As a team we are praying that God would raise up more leaders to come and join in with the children’s ministry and wonder if you would pray with us too. We have a number of needs, but are really looking for people who can carry the vision for children’s ministry and bring experience and skill in nurturing and discipling children. Alongside week by week helpers, we are looking for someone who can help lead the Strong Towers team (pre-school), and some co-leaders for Mighty Warriors (4-6) and Miracle Makers (7-9). The Mighty Warriors and Miracle Makers groups are quite large with 30 and 40 children in them respectively, so this requires leaders who are happy up-front with that number of children.

We would really value your prayers and if you know of anyone that you think would be the kind of person that we are looking for, or that God may be nudging into children’s ministry please could you let us know so that we can have a conversation with them.

Barbara Moore (mother of Peter Moore)

Barbara Moore (aged 82) sustained broken bones and other injuries following a serious road traffic accident on Saturday 28th June. Pete and Lesley write: “Surgery following the accident went well and she is now out of hospital but faces a while yet in a surgical collar. The doctors are happy with her progress. Her social services team are supposed to have a care package in place. We can only thank God because things could have been much worse. Mum could still do with prayer that she gets the balance right between being good to herself but careful and racing ahead towards full recovery.”   Thank you for all your prayers.
