Volunteer Focus in June/July

June July Volunteer Focus 1

During June and July at St John’s we are promoting various ministry areas…

Marcus Pagnam web picFirst up on 22nd June was Marcus Pagnam with ‘Worship’.

“You may think we already have ‘enough’ musicians, singers, PA and Visuals team members. The truth is that a large church like St John’s requires a large team. So we are always looking out for new members!”

Beccy AllenSecond up on 29th June was Beccy Allen our Toddler Pastor.

“On a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning our church building looks and sounds very different.  The chairs are stacked away and we are full of people who don’t normally go to church.  The large hall becomes a café, a meeting place for people to share, encourage and support each other. We get to sing and dance and pray together every morning. Most importantly it is fun and a real joy to partner together in what God is doing…”

Michael WatersThird up was Michael Waters from the ‘debt advice service’ at The Crossway

“We receive referrals from family support teams, housing associations, probation service, churches, our MP and from other ministries of St Johns – so much so that we’re struggling to meet the demand.  If you have a heart to help those in need we’d love to talk to you…”

Ben BakerFinally it was the turn of Ben Baker with ‘Children’s Ministry’.

“St John’s children’s work isn’t about providing a holding place for our children until they are old enough to join the adults and “do church properly”.  It’s about providing a space where children can encounter God, give expression to their worship, be taught the story of God and discover they have a part in it…”

You can read more from Ben here.
